James Curtiss

Independent Director at Baltimore Gas and Electric

Mr. Curtiss is a retired partner from the law firm of Winston & Strawn where he chaired the firm’s energy practice. His practice concentrated in energy policy and nuclear regulatory law. In 1988, President Reagan appointed Mr. Curtiss as a commissioner of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), where he served until June 1993. Before his service at the NRC, Mr. Curtiss was counsel to the Subcommittee on Nuclear Regulation of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works.

Mr. Curtiss is a former member of the board of directors of Cameco Corporation, a Canadian-based uranium producer, as well as Constellation Energy Group, an integrated energy company. He also served as a member of the Advisory Committee of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations. He is currently a member advisor of the Constellation Board’s Nuclear Oversight Committee. He received a bachelor’s degree in English and political science from the University of Nebraska and a J.D., with distinction, from the University of Nebraska Law School.
