Chris Otey

Chris Otey currently serves as Managing Director of Life Sciences Venture Banking at Banc of California, following the merger of Pacific Western Bank with Banc of California in November 2023, where Otey held the same title. Previous experience includes roles as Chief Technology Officer at Oerth Bio and Vice President of Commercial Strategy at Indigo, where responsibilities encompassed strategic planning and sales operations. Otey also served for nearly a decade at Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc. as Senior Vice President - Science & Technology, focusing on venture investments and relationship management within the agriculture and biotechnology sectors. Otey's board observer roles include significant involvement with companies such as Tiburio Therapeutics, Verseau Therapeutics, and ORIG3N. Otey holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry & Molecular Biophysics from Caltech, an MBA in Finance from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and a B.S. in Biochemistry from UC Santa Barbara.
