Richard Khawam

Richard Khawam currently serves as the Chief Risk Officer for Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) U.S. at Santander since January 2024. Previously, Richard held the position of Chief Credit Officer at ORIX Corporation USA from November 2020 to April 2023, and served as Barclays International Senior Credit Officer from September 2016 to November 2020. During an extensive tenure at Barclays Investment Bank from April 2010 to November 2020, Richard held various roles including Head of Wholesale Corporate Credit (Americas) as well as global leadership in Leveraged Finance and Debt Capital Markets. Prior experience includes managing director roles at Wells Fargo Securities, where Richard oversaw the Securities & Investment Group and Risk Management, and serving as Director of Credit Risk - Leveraged Finance at Deutsche Bank. Richard began a career in finance at Credit Suisse, contributing to corporate finance and credit risk management. Richard earned a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Politics, Economics and Law from the University of Buckingham.
