Christian Schmieder currently serves as the Head of MED Administration at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) since March 2020. Prior experience includes positions such as Member of the Secretariat (Policy Adviser) at the Financial Stability Board (FSB) from May 2015 to March 2020 and at BIS from May 2012 to April 2015, where involvement with the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision was key. Additional roles include Economist at the International Monetary Fund from October 2009 to April 2012, Basel II Project Manager at the European Investment Bank from August 2006 to October 2009, Financial Economist in Banking Supervision at Deutsche Bundesbank from August 2004 to July 2006, and Basel II Project Member & PhD Fellow at Daimler Chrysler from August 2002 to July 2004. Christian Schmieder holds a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and a PhD in Finance and Business Administration from the University of Ulm, supplemented by studies at The London School of Economics and Political Science.
