Scott Charbonneau has extensive work experience in the insurance industry. Scott is currently the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Actuary at Bankers Insurance Group since July 2019. Prior to that, they held the position of Chief Actuary at Bankers Financial Corporation starting from May 2016. Scott worked as the Managing Director at Markel Corporation, where they managed workers' compensation actuarial function, reserving, and new opportunities initiatives for wholesale and specialty divisions from November 2010 to February 2016. Scott was also the Chief Actuary at SUA Insurance Company from 2004 to 2010, where they formed and developed the start-up company and performed all duties of a chief actuary. Before that, they served as the VP of Reserving at Kemper Insurance from August 2001 to December 2004, engaging in pricing, reserving for international and specialty lines, and asbestos reserving. Scott started their career as an Actuarial Analyst at Allstate from 1984 to 1987 and later worked as an Actuarial Associate at Zurich North America from October 1987 to March 1993. Lastly, Scott served as the Chief Actuary at Interstate Insurance Company, Fireman's Fund from March 1993 to August 2001.
Scott Charbonneau completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where they studied from 1978 to 1982. Following this, they pursued an MBA in Finance from Northern Illinois University, which they achieved between 1982 and 1983.
