Sherilyn Toro

VP, Compliance & Quality at Banyan Treatment Center

Sherilyn was born and raised in New Jersey. Shortly after relocating to South Florida in 2010, she obtained employment at Banyan as a BHT in 2014. Due to her unparallel work ethic, she was shortly promoted to Program Supervisor and, subsequently, Director of IOP Operations. Sherilyn’s talents were noticed by upper-management and she eventually transitioned into the Quality Assurance department as a QA Coordinator. After a few years of experience, Sherilyn was promoted to National Director of Compliance.

Sherilyn oversees all facilities’ Performance Improvement process, which ensures that Banyan holds itself to the highest standards so that our clients receive the best quality of care. Additionally, she ensures that all facilities maintain federal and state regulations, licensure, and Joint Commission Accreditation. Sherilyn has an education in Business Administration with a concentration in healthcare from Southern New Hampshire University.

Sherilyn started working in the addiction field in 2014 after being Banyan’s first female sober living patient. She is in recovery and believes it has given her everything she was looking for in drugs and alcohol, and so much more. She says, “it gives me the power to live life presently, joyfully, and wholly. The shame, guilt, self-hatred, and hopelessness that I was trapped in for so long has disappeared and I am blessed with opportunities to use those experiences to help others.”

What makes Sherilyn passionate about what she does is the ability to assist those with similar experiences to hers. When asked what advice she would offer to someone struggling, she says, “advice is what people who haven’t been in our shoes give. We offer our experiences, then and now, as a guide for others to follow. Life is what it is supposed to be today; sometimes rough and sometimes blissful.”
