Rean Griffith

Rean Griffith has worked in the technology industry since 2004. Rean began as a Summer Research Intern at IBM Almaden Research Center in 2004. Rean then worked as a Postdoctoral Scholar in the RAD Lab at UC Berkeley from 2008 to 2010. In 2010, they joined VMware as a Sr. Staff Engineer. In 2016, they moved to Illumio as a Distributed Systems Engineer. Rean then joined Captricity in 2017 as a Principal Engineer, where they were responsible for Infrastructure and Distributed Systems for ML/AI systems. Rean achieved key results such as a 45X improvement in throughput per cluster node, a 15X reduction in work-unit latency, and a 100X+ improvement in efficiency. In 2019, they joined Banyan as Head Of Analytics, working on problems at the intersection of cybersecurity, distributed systems, and ML.

Rean Griffith attended Harrison College from 1989 to 1996. Rean then studied at the University of the West Indies (Cave Hill Campus) from 1997 to 2000, where they obtained a B.Sc. in Computer Science and Management (double major). Rean continued their studies at Columbia University from 2001 to 2008, where they earned an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Computer Science.
