The Bar Standards Board
Mark Platt currently serves as the interim Head of Policy at The Bar Standards Board, overseeing regulation for barristers in England and Wales since February 2024. Previously, Mark held the position of Policy Lead at the Health and Care Professions Council, where a significant achievement was the development and publication of the HCPC Principles for Preceptorship. Mark has extensive experience in regulatory policy management, having worked as a Regulatory Policy Manager for the Care Quality Commission, Policy Manager for the General Dental Council, and Policy Advisor on secondment at the Professional Standards Authority. Mark's earlier roles include Communications Officer at GMB@RCN and Policy Manager at the Royal College of Nursing, contributing to various initiatives in healthcare policy and reform. Mark's foundation in policy and research is further evidenced by leadership positions at National Voices and the CBI, along with educational qualifications that include an MSc in EU Politics and a BSc Hons in Politics, Philosophy & History from Birkbeck, University of London.
