Margaret Thurston

Margaret Thurston is a dedicated community planner with extensive experience in environmental sustainability and hazard mitigation. Currently serving as a Community Planner I at Barton & Loguidice since June 2023, Margaret assists in developing Hazard Mitigation Plans and incorporates equity considerations into project reports and presentations. Previous roles include Pollution Prevention Intern at the New York State Pollution Prevention Institute, where research focused on supply chain sustainability, and Regional Collaboration Coordinator at Mount Grace Land Conservation Trust, responsible for completing a Carbon Footprint Assessment. Margaret has also worked with Communities Responding to Extreme Weather, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, and Genesee Land Trust, among others, showcasing a strong commitment to climate resilience and environmental stewardship. Margaret holds a Bachelor of Arts in Development and Sustainability from the University of Rochester and has participated in study abroad programs focusing on environmental issues.
