Vincent Giordani, PhD

Director of Research & Development at BASQUEVOLT

Vincent Giordani, PhD, has a diverse work experience in the field of battery technology and research. Starting in 2005, they pursued a Master's degree in Materials Science and Chemical Engineering as part of the Erasmus Mundus European Master Program. Vincent gained extensive knowledge in electrochemistry and battery material synthesis during their studies at various universities across multiple countries.

In 2007, Vincent began their PhD journey by conducting research on rechargeable nonaqueous Li/O2 batteries. Vincent completed their first PhD at Sapienza Università di Roma and continued their research at CNRS and the University of St Andrews. During this time, they worked on the development of nonaqueous lithium/oxygen high energy batteries and gained practical experience in battery inventing and hands-on work.

Vincent's expertise in battery technology continued to grow as they joined Liox Power, Inc. in 2010. Vincent served as a Senior Scientist and Principal Investigator, leading U.S. Department of Energy funded projects in battery technology. Their work focused on achieving battery technology suitable for long-range fully electric vehicles and the development of Lithium/Oxygen (Li/O2) battery technology.

In 2019, Vincent joined Fisker Inc as a Senior Scientist, where they contributed to the development of lithium metal anodes and battery electrolyte activities. Vincent was responsible for supply selection and manufacturing, analysis, assembly, and qualification of lithium metal anode and electrolyte components.

Most recently, Vincent worked at Enevate Corporation as a Principal Scientist II, starting in 2020. Their role involved the development of advanced silicon-dominant lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery technology, with a focus on extreme fast charging for electric vehicles. Vincent also conducted research on cell failure analysis, anode prelithiation, and novel liquid to semi-solid electrolytes.

Vincent has recently been appointed as the Director of Research & Development at BASQUEVOLT, starting in November 2022. In this role, they will continue their work in battery technology and contribute to the company's research and development efforts.

Vincent Giordani, PhD, holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Sciences des Matériaux, Electrochimie from Université de Picardie Jules Verne (Amiens), which they earned from 2007 to 2010. In the same period, they also obtained a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Materials Science, Electrochemistry from the University of St Andrews. Prior to their doctoral studies, from 2005 to 2007, Vincent completed several Master of Science degrees. Vincent earned an MSc in Materials for Energy Storage and Conversion from Aix-Marseille University, Sapienza Università di Roma, Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse III, Université de Picardie Jules Verne (Amiens), and Warsaw University of Technology.
