James Altgelt

James Altgelt has extensive experience in emergency management and public safety, currently serving as the Deputy Director of Emergency Management and Emergency Management Coordinator for Bastrop County since February 2020. Previously, Altgelt held positions as Assistant City Manager of Public Safety and Community Support as well as Chief of Police for the City of Bastrop, and served as Assistant Chief of Police with the Bastrop Police Department. Career milestones also include roles with the Lubbock Police Department and Val Verde County Sheriff's Department. Altgelt began the law enforcement career as a Deputy Sheriff and has a background in military service with the United States Air Force and the Air Force Office of Special Investigations.
