Steve Larkin

Steve Larkin serves as the Chief Executive Officer at Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education since March 2018. Previously, Larkin held the position of Pro Vice-Chancellor at the University of Newcastle (UON), Australia from August 2016 to March 2018, and at Charles Darwin University from January 2009 to August 2016. Larkin's early career includes serving as Principal at the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies from 2002 to December 2008, and as Assistant Secretary at DEWRSB from 2001 to 2002. Larkin earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Public Administration and Indigenous employment from Queensland University of Technology between 2008 and 2014, a Master's degree in Social Science from Charles Sturt University from 1994 to 1997, and a Bachelor of Social Work from The University of Queensland from 1981 to 1984.
