Matthew Allen

Matt works across an impressive range of Bates Smart’s residential, student housing, hotel and civic work. He has built up particular expertise on residential masterplanning projects and design competition wins, including as a design leader for UNSW Kensington Colleges and the Vibe Canberra Airport Hotel.

Matt is currently working on the Ivanhoe project in Macquarie Park, as well as the Newmarket masterplan and Phase 1 residential design in Randwick.

Within Bates Smart, Matt has also been instrumental in shaping the research and development of Design Technology team. This is guided by a personal interest in how new technologies, such as virtual and augmented reality, can be harnessed to better present, review, and improve our design work.
