Scott Middlemas is a seasoned metallurgical engineer with extensive experience in thermal properties and extractive metallurgy. Currently a Staff Scientist at Idaho National Laboratory since May 2016, Scott has previously served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Army Research Lab - APG, where significant contributions included leading the development of Rare Earth metal extraction programs and operating advanced metallurgical equipment. Scott's research background includes a Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Utah, where a dissertation focused on energy-conscious production methods for titanium powders, alongside co-authoring successful research proposals and patent applications. Additional experience includes internships at Rio Tinto and Barrick Gold Corporation, where practical skills in process optimization and equipment inspection were developed.
