Bernard Hoet has a broad range of work experience spanning multiple companies and roles. Bernard started their career at KU Leuven as a Scientific Assistant at the Center for Thrombosis and Vascular Research from July 1986 to March 1989. Bernard then joined UCB where they worked in various positions, including Head of the Preclinical Cardiovascular Pharmacology Department from March 1989 to March 1993, Head of Clinical Research Associates from April 1993 to March 1995, and Head of the Premarketing Unit from March 1995 to September 1996. Bernard briefly worked at Fournier Pharma as a Clinical Research Physician from October 1996 to May 1997. Bernard then joined GSK Vaccines and held several roles, including Associate Director, Medical Product Support from June 1997 to September 2000, Head of Clinical Safety & Pharmacovigilance and Labelling from September 2000 to February 2004, Director, Clinical R&D, Life Cycle Management from March 2004 to September 2006, Director, Clinical & Medical Affairs Europe from September 2006 to April 2008, and Director, Global Medical Affairs Lead Pneumococcus Vaccines from April 2008 to January 2018. Bernard'slast position at GSK Vaccines was Director of Global Medical Affairs for Flu, Travellers, Endemic, HPV, COPD, and RSV portfolio from January 2018 to January 2020. Currently, Bernard is Vice President of Medical Affairs at Bavarian Nordic since February 2020 and has recently been promoted to Vice President of Medical Strategy in March 2022.

Bernard Hoet started their education in the field of Medicine in 1979 at Université de Namur. Bernard pursued their studies there until 1982, earning the degree of Candidate in Medicine. Following this, they attended Faculteit Geneeskunde KU Leuven Faculty of Medicine from 1982 to 1986, where they obtained their Doctor in Medicine degree.
