Friedemann Janus, PhD, has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry, currently serving as Senior Vice President and Head of Business Development & Licensing at Bayer since February 2011. Janus has held numerous leadership roles within Bayer, focusing on business development, licensing, open innovation, and regional divestitures, and has also been responsible for commercial leadership for the drug Xarelto. Prior to Bayer, Janus was a Partner at McKinsey & Co. from February 1999 to February 2011. Janus earned a PhD in Genetics and Molecular Biology from Heinrich-Pette-Institut für Tumorvirologie and holds a degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, and Molecular Biology from the University of Hamburg, along with additional studies at Cornell University.
