Debra Murray

Debra Murray, Ph.D., serves as an Assistant Professor and Instructor at Baylor College of Medicine since July 2005, where responsibilities include faculty roles, administration, instruction, and mentorship focused on diversity and inclusion initiatives. Additionally, Debra has been a National Institute of Health Grants Reviewer for the National Human Genome Research Institute since January 2005, evaluating applications for the NIH Loan Repayment Program and NHGRI DAP grants. Debra is the Director of Education and Minority Diversity Programs at the Human Genome Sequencing Center, leading efforts to enhance underrepresented minorities' participation in genomic research through various educational programs and partnerships. Prior roles include Program Coordinator for the National Urban League's diabetes education initiative, Research Instructor and Research Biologist positions at academic and healthcare institutions, and teaching engagements at Prairie View A&M University. Debra's academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology from Purdue University, along with several master's and bachelor's degrees in related fields.
