Daniel Lai

Senior Bioinformatics Scientist at BC Cancer

Daniel Lai serves as a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist at BC Cancer, leading a team that supports groundbreaking cancer research in the Molecular Oncology department. With previous roles including Bioinformatics Scientist and Research Intern, Daniel specializes in next-generation sequencing data analysis. Additionally, as a Clinical Instructor at The University of British Columbia, Daniel teaches MEDG 580 Genomic Testing and Clinical Bioinformatics. Daniel's academic background includes a PhD in Bioinformatics, a Professional Master of Business Administration from UBC Sauder School of Business, and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and Microbiology & Immunology. Research contributions include developing the HMMcopy pipeline and improving RNA secondary structure prediction methodologies, as well as designing prototypes for bioinformatics systems.
