April Wynne-Chesniak

Executive Director, Regulatory Strategy at BC Oil & Gas Commission

April Wynne-Chesniak has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations. April currently holds the role of Executive Director, Regulatory Strategy at BC Energy Regulator, a position they have held since October 2023. Prior to this, they were the Acting Executive Director and Director of Regulatory Strategy at the same organization from September 2022 to October 2023.

April also has extensive experience at Alberta Energy Regulator (AER). April worked as the Manager of Licensee Performance Capability from February 2020 to December 2021, and prior to that, they served as the Manager of Liability Management, Closure, and Liability Branch from January 2017 to February 2020.

Before joining AER, April held various positions at National Oilwell Varco - Tuboscope Pipeline Inspection, Marr Associates Integrity Management, Marr Associates, and Smart Betty, where they worked in roles such as Quality Management, Data Analysis and Training; Data Analysis Manager; and Data Analyst, respectively.

Throughout their career, April has demonstrated strong leadership, project management, and strategic planning skills. April has successfully managed budgets, led diverse teams, and implemented regulatory compliance measures. April's work experience showcases their expertise in the energy and regulatory sectors.

April Wynne-Chesniak holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) degree in Geography from the University of Calgary, which they completed from 1995 to 1999. April also obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Leadership from Royal Roads University between 2017 and 2019. In addition, April has several certifications, including Prosci Change Management Process Certificate from Concentric Solutions (2012), Level I and Level II Ultrasonic Inspection Techniques - SNT-TC-1A from Tuboscope (2006), Gas Pipeline Ops, Pipeline Maintenance, Pipeline Corrosion Control, Liquid Pipeline Field Ops Instructor from the National Center for Construction Education and Research (2005), and Level I and II - Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) SNT-TC-1A and Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) from Tuboscope (2004). April is also currently working towards becoming a Certified ToP Facilitator through ICA Associates Inc.
