Heather Cruz has a diverse work experience in various roles within the social services sector. Heather currently works at the City of San Antonio as the Head Start Special Projects Manager. Prior to this, they served as the Director of Family and Community Engagement, Education Services at BCFS Health & Human Services.

Before joining BCFS, Heather was a Site Supervisor at GREATER OPPORTUNITIES OF THE PERMIAN BASIN INC where they oversaw a Head Start program for 189 children and managed a team of 30 staff members.

Heather also worked as an Early Childhood Interventionist at West Texas Centers for M, where they provided support and assistance to young children with developmental delays.

At the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, Heather served as an Adult Protective Specialist III, ensuring the welfare and safety of vulnerable adults.

Heather has a strong background in community engagement and program management within the social services sector.

Heather Cruz obtained their Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Accounting from Howard College, during the period between 2000 and 2002. Heather then pursued their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Human Development and Family Studies, General from Texas Tech University, which they completed between 2002 and 2006. Following this, Heather further advanced their education by completing their Master of Arts (M.A.) in Marriage and Family Therapy/Counseling from The University of Texas at San Antonio between 2008 and 2010.
