Kerry Fitzgerald has a diverse work history, beginning with a role as a Child Care Teacher at Bright Horizons Family Solutions in 2007. Kerry then worked as a Child Life Intern at the Chicago Children's Advocacy Center in 2008, and as a Developmental Therapist at Early Intervention in 2009. In the same year, they took on two roles at the Herr Research Center, as a Project Coordinator and Research Intern. From 2014 to 2016, they worked as a Mental Health and Disabilities Coordinator at Family Star Montessori, and as a Developmental Specialist at Family Fundamentals. In 2013, they were a Social Media Consultant at Fitzgerald Real Estate, Inc. Finally, since 2019, they have been working at BCT Partners in the roles of Research and Evaluation Analyst, Program Support Specialist, and Grant Support Specialist.

Kerry Fitzgerald began their educational history in 2003 when they earned a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts and Sciences; Psychology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Kerry then went on to earn a Masters of Science in Child Development from the Erikson Institute in 2009. In 2014, they obtained a DDST II Trainer Certified certification, a Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED certification from the American Heart Association | American Stroke Association, and a Medication Administration Instructional Program certification from Children's Hospital Colorado. In 2015, they obtained a Pathways to Leadership certification from Verus Global Inc. and a Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders Certificate from Postpartum Support International. Finally, in 2018, Kerry Fitzgerald earned a Certificate in Full Stack Software Development from Devetry Code Forward.
