Marla Garin-Alvarez

Marla Garin-Alvarez is a seasoned communications and sustainability professional with extensive experience across various sectors. Currently, Marla serves as Vice President and Head of the Sustainability Office at BDO Unibank, where responsibilities include driving the bank's transition to a Sustainable Finance Framework and overseeing ESG governance. Prior to this role, Marla held several key positions at Thomson Reuters, including Diversity & Inclusion Lead and Regional Manager for Corporate Responsibility & Inclusion in Asia Pacific, where Marla executed strategies to enhance inclusion and corporate responsibility. Additional experience includes roles in internal communications and corporate communications management at companies such as Intel Corporation, Environments Global - Cubeland, and San Miguel Corporation. Marla began their career in public relations at Orendain & Associates and as a writer for various publications. A graduate of the University of the Philippines with a BA in Communication, Marla combines strategic communication expertise with a strong dedication to sustainability and corporate responsibility initiatives.
