Marah Mukhtar has a diverse work experience in the engineering field. In 2017, they began their career as a Research Assistant in the Simmons Mechanobiology Lab at the University of Florida. In 2019, they were selected by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to participate in the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Intern Program. In 2021, they began working as an Assistant Engineer, Biomaterials at Sigilon Therapeutics, Inc. where they manufactured, optimized, and evaluated the Sigilon SLTx Drug Product (DP) to support the various programs within the company pipeline. Marah also proposed three new Biomaterial formulations that contained alternative small molecules compared to current inner sphere biomaterial. Additionally, Marah Mukhtar has been a Teaching Assistant for Materials Structure & Analysis Lab at UF Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering since 2021. Marah has taught material characterization techniques such as XRD, sample prep, FTIR, hardness testing, and tensile testing and guided ~30 students in proper data gathering, analysis, and presentation skills. Marah Mukhtar is currently employed at Be Biopharma as a Process Engineer since 2022.
Marah Mukhtar obtained a Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering from the University of Florida in 2020 and a Master's degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the same institution in 2021. Additionally, they obtained a Biomaterials Certificate from the University of Florida in May 2020 and an Engineering Leadership Certificate from the University of Florida in May 2021.
