Andrew Shapiro

Andrew Shapiro is the founder, managing director and partner of Beacon Global Strategies LLC. Andrew served as the assistant secretary for political-military affairs at the U.S. Department of State from January 2009 to April 2013. Prior to that, they were the senior defense and foreign policy advisor to Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton from May 2001 to January 2009. Andrew also served as the briefing book director for Senator Lieberman during the Gore-Lieberman 2000 presidential campaign. Shapiro began their career as a counsel at the U.S. Department of Justice, where they worked on the International Competition Policy Advisory Committee. Andrew then moved to Covington & Burling, where they worked as an associate from November 1995 to May 1998.

Andrew Shapiro began their educational career by obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Diplomatic Theirtory from the University of Pennsylvania. Andrew then went on to obtain a Masters in International Affairs from Columbia | SIPA. Finally, they obtained their Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School.
