Robert MacLaren

Robert MacLaren is a distinguished expert in the field of ophthalmology currently serving as the Scientific Founder and Director at Beacon Therapeutics since April 2023, focusing on gene therapy for retinal diseases. As a Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Oxford and a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust since March 2009, Robert has made significant contributions to the field. Additionally, Robert holds the position of Bodley Fellow at Merton College, Oxford, and has served as an Honorary Consultant Vitreoretinal Surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital since March 2001. Robert's academic involvement extends to being an Honorary Professor of Ophthalmology at University College London since February 2009. Previously, Robert founded and directed NIGHTSTAR THERAPEUTICS from January 2014 to June 2019.
