Lou Donayre

Principal Infrastructure Engineer at Bear Flag Robotics

Lou Donayre has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and responsibilities. Starting in 2021, Lou worked as the Principal Infrastructure Engineer at Bear Flag Robotics, where they focused on MLOps docker container builds and CI/CD into Kubernetes clusters for the Perception team.

Prior to that, from 2020 to 2021, they worked as a DevOps Engineer - DevSecOps at Self and Other. In this role, Lou utilized Python, Golang, AWS Lambda Programming, Kubernetes, and Terraform. They built a Jenkins pipeline for CI/CD and integrated webhooks with Bitbucket Cloud, Slack, and Jira. Lou also created Docker containers in Golang and Python for deployment into Kubernetes.

Between 2018 and 2020, Lou served as a Sr. DevOps, System, and Network Administrator at Peloton Technology (Autonomous Vehicle). They implemented Python and SaltStack for configuration management and Terraform for orchestration. Lou was responsible for building the first AWS production environment using Python due to highly complex and unusual proprietary requirements and restrictions.

From 2016 to 2019, Lou worked at Tile as a Sr. DevOps. They joined the company during the peak holiday season to address soaring AWS costs and successfully reduced them by thirty percent the following quarter.

Prior to Tile, from 2014 to 2016, Lou held the position of Director of DevOPS at Shmoop, where they managed all company server operations in Amazon (AWS) using MySQL and MongoDB as the databases. Lou also performed front-end programming in Javascript and Node.js.

Lou worked at GenWi as the Director of DevOps from 2013 to 2016 before being acquired by Persistent Systems in April 2016. They were a full-time employee from January 2013 to October 2014 and continued as a part-time contractor until March 2018.

From 2010 to 2012, Lou served as the Director of Database Operations (Sr. Systems and Network Admin.) at EcoFactor. They created, installed, monitored, and maintained zero downtime, zero data loss, Master-Master replicated MySQL databases. Lou also cross-replicated portions of this database to Hadoop and Salesforce.

Before that, Lou was the Director of Operations (Sr. Systems/Network Admin.) at mSpot, Inc from 2007 to 2009. Following their resignation, Lou held paid retainer agreements with their previous employers, overlapping with their new role.

Lou's work experience also includes roles as a Senior Database Administrator at Snapfish from 2002 to 2008, where they were acquired by Hewlett-Packard in April 2005. They were also a Senior Database/Unix Administrator at Qualys from 2002 to 2007, where Lou installed, configured, and maintained all databases and their corresponding Linux servers in a warm standby database architecture. Qualys had an IPO in September 2012.

Lou Donayre completed a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from an Accredited University between 1982 and 1988.
