Salary: $80,000-100,000 + bonus

Job Summary:

The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for overseeing and managing the cost accounting functions within the finance department. This role involves analyzing costs, preparing costing within our ERP (MS Dynamics BC), preparing cost reports, and identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements. The Senior Cost Accountant will play a key role in financial decision-making by providing accurate cost information and analysis to support strategic initiatives.

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

• This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but is subject to change. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Update BOM’s and Routings within our ERP for all items across various co-packers.
• Assist in preparation of monthly inventory related journal entries.
• Analyze and monitor costs associated with production processes, materials, and inventory.
• Prepare and maintain cost reports, including variance analysis and cost of goods sold (COGS) reports.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements.
• Conduct regular audits of inventory and manufacturing processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Assist in the development and implementation of cost accounting policies and procedures.
• Provide financial analysis and support for decision-making related to pricing, product development, and investment opportunities.
• Participate in month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations related to cost accounts.
• Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and analysis as needed.

Required Skills/Abilities: 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in cost accounting principles and techniques.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.

• Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior management.
• Solid understanding of financial statements and reporting requirements.

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• CPA certification preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost accounting or related field.
• Experience in CPG preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
