Manufacturing Engineer

Engineering · Full-time · Queensland, Australia

Job description

The Opportunity Join our team as a Manufacturing Engineer.   This is a new role created due to company growth. You will be part of the small team driving our ambitious manufacturing transformation program. Our goal is to build a world-class manufacturing system.   This is an exciting opportunity to make your mark on a fast-growing company.   The Role As a Manufacturing Engineer you will part of the small team driving our manufacturing transformation program. We manufacture premium technical products for the mining industry in a 100% configure-to-order / build-to-order discrete manufacturing system that requires high flexibility. We are building out our team to drive the manufacturing transformation required to support our company’s strong growth.   Key responsibilities will include: -          Manufacturing engineering -          Manufacturing process development -          LEAN continuous improvement -          Reliability & maintenance -          Manufacturing technology & equipment -          Project management

This is a new role coming at a critical stage in our company’s growth. You will help drive the transformation of our manufacturing system to allow us to scale from current $50m production from a single plant to over $250m from multiple plants in 5 years’ time. We are committed to building a world-class LEAN production system and manufacturing engineering is the key ‘change agent’ to drive this transformation.

This role will report to our (newly hired) Manufacturing Engineering Manager and will be based at our Salisbury (Brisbane) plant, with paid relocation if required. We are aiming to hire high-potential talent who will perform exceptionally and progress to take on more responsibility in the business. We see Manufacturing Engineering as a key entry point for future managers and leaders in our business.

About You We are looking for a high-performing Manufacturing Engineer.

You will be looking for the opportunity to be part of an ambitious manufacturing transformation program. You will be passionate about world-class LEAN manufacturing. You will love getting your hands dirty solving difficult engineering problems – with a strong ‘shop floor focus’ and belief in using smarts and ingenuity to solve problems (not money).

The type of character we’re looking for is someone who wants the autonomy to solve problems and deliver the results. You will be highly committed, driven, hard-working and ambitious. You will believe in the power of technology and harnessing it to do things faster-cheaper-better. You will be a strong ‘first principles thinker’ who can engage with technical subjects across a range of disciplines (ie, rather than a narrow technical specialist).

Experience required includes:

-          Engineering degree qualified (with strong academic results). -          Manufacturing engineering experience (ideally in discrete manufacturing). -          Hands-on LEAN implementation experience. -          Ideally – exposure to manufacturing capital projects (new process, equipment, etc). -          Ideally – exposure to robotic automation of manufacturing processes.

Why Join Us? It is an exciting time to join our team as we accelerate our growth to build a real Australian success story. We are building a business that specialises in high-performance slurry transfer equipment for the mining industry. Our goal is to build a world-class company that dominates this specialist market globally.

Key reasons to join us include:

-          Autonomy – high ownership with autonomy to solve problems and deliver results. -          Interesting work – lots of challenging and interesting problems to solve. -          High-quality team – work with smart, motivated people driving transformation. -          Commitment – strong commitment from owner with large investment. -          ‘No BS’ culture – high-performance team culture (see Beaver Core Values). -          Growth – company growth creates opportunities for high-performers.
