Matt Heard

Matt Heard is an Associate Professor of Environmental Science and Biology at Belmont University, where Matt serves as the Director of the Environmental Science program, focusing on human impacts on the environment such as pollution and climate change. In addition to teaching, Matt is an Associate Editor for the journal Frontiers of Biogeography, contributing to the editorial process by soliciting and editing articles from leading scholars. Previous roles include serving as a District 7 Board Member for Keep York County Beautiful, an Assistant Professor of Biology at Winthrop University, and a Voss Postdoctoral Fellow at Brown University, where research centered on infectious diseases. Matt's academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Brown University and a B.A. from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
