Mary Fairbanks has extensive experience in nursing education and public health, serving as a nursing faculty member at Bemidji State University from August 2009 until retirement. Mary held positions as both Professor and Associate Professor, focusing on public health nursing, leadership, and communication. A key goal of Mary's work involved increasing the number of American Indian nurses serving the community in northern Minnesota. Prior to this, Mary worked as a Registered Nurse and Public Health Nurse with the Indian Health Service from August 1985 to August 2009. Mary earned a Doctorate of Nursing Practice in Public Health Nursing from the University of Minnesota between 2010 and 2012, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Montana State University-Bozeman from 1982 to 1985.
