Tyler Folkman has a diverse work experience in various roles related to technology, artificial intelligence, and data science. Tyler is currently serving as the Chief Technology and AI Officer at BENlabs, a position they have held since January 2022. Prior to this, Tyler worked as Senior Vice President of Artificial Intelligence & Product at BENlabs from January to December 2021 and as Vice President of Artificial Intelligence from March 2019 to December 2020.

In addition to their roles at BENlabs, Tyler is involved in other organizations. Tyler serves as the Vice Chair of the AI Chapter at Silicon Slopes since July 2023 and as a Member of the Board of Advisors at the University of Utah - David Eccles School of Business since April 2023.

Tyler has also contributed as a Writer and Editor at Towards Data Science since October 2019.

Earlier in their career, Tyler worked as an Adjunct Professor of Applied Machine Learning at Brigham Young University from January 2018 to April 2019. Tyler was responsible for teaching and conducting research in the field of machine learning.

Before joining Brigham Young University, Tyler worked at Ancestry, where they held the roles of Senior Manager of Data Science from August 2017 to February 2019 and Senior Data Scientist from May 2016 to August 2017. In these roles, they led teams focused on personalization, recommendation, and machine learning, addressing various data science problems.

Tyler's work experience also includes positions at The University of Texas at Austin, where they worked as a Teaching Assistant for courses on Intro. to Data Science and Advanced Data Mining. Tyler also worked as a Software Engineer Intern at Amazon and as a Part-time Machine Learning Engineer at Cognitive Scale.

Throughout their career, Tyler has demonstrated expertise in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, and teaching. Their diverse experiences have equipped him with a strong skill set in these areas.

Tyler Folkman holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Economics, with a minor in Mathematics, from Brigham Young University. Tyler attended from 2005 to 2011.

In 2014, Tyler pursued higher education and earned a Master's degree in Computer Science from The University of Texas at Austin, which they completed in 2016.

Continuing their education in the field, Tyler completed a bootcamp on Deep Reinforcement Learning at the University of California, Berkeley in 2017.

Additionally, Tyler expanded their knowledge in computer science through the Self-Driving Car Engineer Nanodegree program from Udacity, which they attended from 2016 to 2017.
