Jan van Loo

Jan Van Loo is an experienced professional in the fields of nutrition, market insights, and process development, currently serving as an Advisor for Innovation and Market Insights at BENEO since January 2008. In this role, Jan focuses on identifying novel ingredients with enhanced nutritional and technical value and developing economically viable extraction processes. Prior to this, Jan held positions including Senior Manager for New Business Development and Market Intelligence Officer, responsible for establishing group-wide market intelligence tools. Previously, Jan served as Nutrition Research Manager at Orafti Active Food Ingredients from 1992 to 2006, conducting extensive research on topics related to gut health and nutritional benefits. Jan began a career in process development as an engineer at Raffinerie Tirlemontoise from 1987 to 1992, specializing in the production of nutraceutical prebiotics. Jan holds a PhD in Industrial Microbiology from Ghent University and has completed management studies at Vlerick Business School.
