Shelton Walker

Chief of Staff & VP, Strategic Initiatives at Bennington College

Shelton Walker is currently the Chief of Staff and VP of Strategic Initiatives at Bennington College. Prior to this, they served as the Chief of Staff and Associate Vice President for Strategic Initiatives at The University of the Arts from April 2015 to January of 2022. From September 2012 to April 2015, they were the Director of Continuing & Professional Studies at Montserrat College of Art.

Before their work in higher education, Shelton worked as an Education Officer for Mercy Corps' Action Center NYC from January 2008 to September 2009. Shelton also spent two years as a Museum Educator at the Guggenheim Museum from January 2007 to December 2009. In addition, they worked as an Archivist & Gallery Assistant at Chelsea Fine Art Galleries - Tanya Bonakdar Gallery & Robert Miller Gallery from October 2006 to December 2008.

Shelton's professional experience also includes research and filmmaking. Shelton served as a Research Assistant on the film "Alice Neel" from July 2004 to February 2005 and was Co-Director of Pratt Collaboratives at PRATT INSTITUTE from October 2003 to May 2006.

Shelton Walker graduated with a Master of Fine Arts from The Glasgow School of Art in Visual Arts. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's Degree from Pratt Institute.

They work with Tony Cabasco - Vice President for Enrollment, Jude Higdon - Director of Information Technology, and Andrew Schlatter - Vice President for Facilities Management and Planning. Shelton Walker reports to Laura R. Walker, President.
