Ian Armstrong

Ian Armstrong has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning several industries and roles. Ian currently serves as the SVP Origination at Benteler Trading International AG, a trading and logistics firm based in Switzerland. Prior to this, they were a Managing Director at Greensill Capital, an independent financial services firm specializing in structured trade finance.

Ian has also held various positions in the banking sector, including Director at Citi and Head of Financial Supply Chain Solutions at Santander UK. Ian has a strong background in sales and business development, demonstrated by their roles as Sales Director at Abbey, UK Corporate Banking and Head of Bank Relationships at Bottomline Technologies.

Ian's career started in law enforcement, where they spent several years in Hong Kong, first as an Inspector with the Hong Kong Police and later as a Detective Inspector with the Royal Hong Kong Police Force.

Throughout their career, Ian has gained expertise in trade finance, supply chain solutions, and structured finance. Ian has a proven track record in leading teams and developing innovative solutions to meet the needs of corporations and financial institutions.

Ian Armstrong attended Warwick School from 1978 to 1985, where they did not pursue any specific degree or field of study. From 1985 to 1987, they studied Mechanical & Production Engineering at Oxford Brookes University and Engineering, Mech/Prod at Oxford Polytechnic. In 1988, they completed Standard I & II at Police Training School, focusing on Law. Finally, in 1990, they briefly attended Detective Training School, specializing in Criminal Law.
