Dr. Christina Foehl serves as the assistant director of the Office of Professional Development and Curriculum. Dr. Foehl’s responsibilities include leadership in the area of literacy, work with the nonpublic schools program, continuing professional education programs, comprehensive school planning, various state initiatives, and other services related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
Dr. Foehl began her educational career as a teacher’s assistant in a residential treatment facility. Upon receiving her elementary teaching certification and master’s degree, she began teaching third grade in Wissahickon School District in Montgomery County, PA. After moving to Berks County and completing her reading specialist certification, she was hired as a reading specialist at Wilson School District. She was also training in Reading Recovery.
Dr. Foehl desired to learn more about the reading process in order to better support her students so she completed her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Reading at Widener University. She has since also earned a supervisory certification in curriculum and instruction. She is now using her experience and education in her multifaceted work as she strives to serve the students, teachers, and schools in Berks County.
