Jessi Strawn

Jessi Strawn has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies. Jessi began their career as a Communication Intern at the Iowa Association of School Boards in 2004 and later worked as a Corporate Communication Intern at MidAmerican Energy Company in 2005.

In 2006, they joined SHAZAM as a Technical Writer, responsible for creating and publishing internal and external documentation, and later became a Corporate Communication Specialist, involved in writing external communications and working on various communication-related projects.

From 2008 to 2010, Jessi worked at Iowa State University as a Communications Specialist, where they managed content on electronic platforms, directed strategic communications projects, and provided support to the College of Engineering. Their role was later eliminated in 2010 due to budget constraints, but they continued to work for the College, creating communication material for alumni, recruitment, and departments.

Returning to the corporate world, Jessi joined MidAmerican Energy Company in 2017 as a Public Relations Manager, responsible for planning and directing the creation of materials to tell the business's story. Jessi later transitioned to Berkshire Hathaway Energy, where they held the role of Director of Corporate Communications, providing strategic thought leadership in internal and external communications. Currently, they are the Vice President of Corporate Communications, partnering with executives to deliver strong messaging and connect business goals to corporate communications strategies.

Jessi Strawn completed their education starting from high school and then proceeding to earn a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree. Jessi obtained their High School Diploma from Norwalk High School between the years 1998 and 2002. Later, Jessi attended Iowa State University from 2002 to 2006, where they attained a Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication. Finally, between the years 2006 and 2008, they pursued further education at Iowa State University and successfully obtained a Master's degree in Rhetoric, Composition, and Professional Communication.
