Head Of Research Group Snakebite Envenoming at Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine

Joerg Blessmann has a diverse work experience in the medical and scientific field. Joerg worked as a scientist at the Bernhard Nocht Institute from 1998 to 2001, followed by a role as a medical doctor at the Tropical Institute Berlin in 2002. Joerg then returned to the Bernhard Nocht Institute as a medical doctor from 2003 to 2005. In 2005, they joined Lux-Development as a medical officer until 2008. Joerg then rejoined the Bernhard Nocht Institute in 2012 as a medical doctor and scientist. Currently, they hold the position of Head of the Research Group Snakebite envenoming.

Joerg Blessmann started their education journey in 1981 at the University of Cologne, where they pursued a degree in Medicine. Joerg completed their Medical Doctor program in 1987. Following this, Joerg joined the Klinikum Solingen from 1988 to 1996, where they specialized in Internal Medicine through a residency program.

In 1998, Joerg enrolled at the Bernhard Nocht Institut, where they spent four years studying Tropical Medicine. During this time, they earned a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree, specializing in Tropical Medicine. Additionally, they completed a Specialist Tropical Medicine program at the Bernhard Nocht Institut from 1998 to 2001.

Finally, from 2011 to 2014, Joerg attended the Hamburg University of Applied Science, working towards a Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) degree. The field of study for this program was not specified.
