Derek McMahon has over 20 years of experience in various design and development roles. Derek began their career as a Web Designer/Developer at The Stride Rite Corporation, where they were responsible for creating digital assets across all corporate brands and executing email marketing campaigns. Derek then worked as a Senior Web Designer/Developer at Collective Brands, Inc., where they continued to be the creative lead on digital assets for SperryTopSider.com and Saucony.com. Derek later joined Wolverine World Wide as a Senior Interactive Designer/Developer, where they oversaw and art directed a team of designers while conceiving, designing, and producing multiple online campaigns. Derek then served as a Senior UX Designer at Staples before becoming a Lead UX Designer at Berry Global, Inc. Finally, Derek founded their own design studio, kincora design studio, where they currently serve as the Creative Director and Owner.

Derek McMahon's education history includes various certifications and courses. In 1998, they obtained a Certificate in Client Server Development from Boston University and also completed a course on Fundamentals of HTML at Harvard University. In 1996, Derek earned a Certificate in Graphic Design and Prepress from Clark University. Additionally, they have acquired additional certifications in their career, including a UX Certificate from the Nielsen Norman Group, obtained in November 2019, and a certification in Creating a Design System with Sketch from LinkedIn, obtained in July 2018.
