Heather Gocke has held various positions in the field of risk management and healthcare. Heather started their career as a Registered Nurse at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center in 1990 and worked there until 2001. Heather then joined The SCPIE Company as a Litigation Specialist where they handled litigated and non-litigated claims for a professional liability carrier. Heather then moved to Catholic Healthcare West in 2003 and served as the Manager of Clinical Risk & Patient Safety until 2009. During this time, they gained experience in managing clinical risk and patient safety. Following their role at Catholic Healthcare West, Heather joined BETA Healthcare Group as the Director of Risk Management/Patient Safety from 2009 to 2013, where they provided risk management consultation to hospitals and physicians insured by the group. Heather then served as the Vice President of Risk Management & Safety at BETA Healthcare Group from 2014 onwards. In this role, they managed the Risk Management & Safety department, overseeing a staff of 22 and a budget of over 7 million. Heather's expertise lies in risk management, loss control, and employee and patient safety activities.
Heather Gocke has an extensive education history in various fields. Heather earned a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Safety Leadership from the University of Illinois College of Medicine, where they studied from 2012 to 2015. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Healthcare Management from Excelsior University, attending from 2008 to 2010. In 2008 and 2009, Heather completed the AHA/HRET Patient Safety Leadership Fellowship Class 7, focusing on patient safety.
Before pursuing their undergraduate studies, Heather also attended the University of California, Riverside from 1999 to 2001, where they pursued studies in Paralegal and Legal Nurse Consultancy. Heather also holds an ASN degree in Nursing, which they obtained from Long Beach City College from 1987 to 1990.
In addition to their formal education, Heather Gocke has obtained additional certifications. Heather completed the Dare to Lead™ training in February 2022 and also completed a course titled "Working with High-Conflict People as a Manager" offered by LinkedIn in January 2022.
