Rufus Phillips

Rufus Phillips is the current Director at Beth Sholom Senior Living. Rufus has previous experience as the Executive Vice President Business Development at n1Health from October 2014 to April 2016. Prior to that, they were the Executive Vice President at Medical Society of Virginia from October 2007 to September 2014 where they were responsible for the operating budget of over $6 million and a staff of 50. Rufus has also led senior teams responsible for state and federal government affairs, policy, practice services, membership, insurance brokerage, marketing & communications, HR, finance & IT. During their time at MSV, they successfully operationalized the strategic plan to become more of a data driven and collaborative organization that works more effectively with key stakeholders. Additionally, they developed and implemented a new strategy designed to enhance MSV’s relevance through the creation of value-added services designed to support physicians in successfully navigating changes and reforms in care delivery and payment. Furthermore, they were responsible for leading the successful effort to improve strategic relationships with key healthcare stakeholder organizations throughout Virginia. Their experience also includes business development, including expansion of medical malpractice insurance markets and successful negotiation of strategic partnership with nation’s largest privately-held group benefits broker. Lastly, they have experience in organizational development where they established a values-based culture and collaborative management philosophy, improving communication, accountability and teamwork within staff and between staff and physician volunteer leadership. Rufus Phillips received a BA in Theirtory from the University of Virginia and an MBA in General Management from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business.
