Jessie Silver has a diverse work experience spanning various sectors. Starting in 2009, they worked as a Critical Care Nurse and Shift Manager at the University of Virginia Health System, where they provided bedside care to critically ill patients and managed nursing staff. In 2013, they became a Clinical Instructor and In-country Nursing Lead for Human Resources for Health, leading a Critical Care Nursing Certification Course and mentoring nursing students and instructors. Jessie then took on the role of Project Lead for the University of Rwanda Teaching Hospital, where they designed and implemented a new medical record system and trained hospital staff. Jessie later worked as a Project Lead for Correctional Health Services, developing spatial designs for healthcare clinics in New York City's jails. In 2018, Jessie became a Social Impact Fellowship/Incubator Instructor at the Centre for Social Innovation, where they co-taught an incubator program and facilitated workshops on impact strategy. From 2019 to 2020, they worked as a Freelance Website Designer and Consultant, helping small businesses achieve their growth goals through communications strategies and delivering new websites and promotional materials. In 2020, Jessie joined the Virginia Department of Health, initially serving as a Team Lead for COVID-19 response and later transitioning to the role of Service Systems Designer for the COVID Vaccine Registration System. Jessie'sresponsibilities included growing a containment team, designing systems for case tracking, and collaborating with partner organizations. Most recently, Jessie has been working at Better Life Partners, first as a Product Lead and currently as an Innovation & Execution Lead. Jessie continues to contribute their expertise in developing and executing innovative initiatives.
Jessie Silver's education history includes a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Design for Social Innovation from the School of Visual Arts, obtained from 2016 to 2018. Prior to that, Jessie earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Nursing from the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, completed from 2007 to 2008. Before pursuing a nursing degree, Jessie achieved a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Human Biology from the University of Virginia, finished from 2003 to 2005.
In addition to formal education, Jessie has obtained several certifications. These include Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association in February 2009, Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor from the same institutions in July 2014, Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association in September 2009, Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) from the National Ski Patrol in December 2005, and Wilderness First Responder (WFR) from Stonehearth Open Learning Opportunities in February 2000.
