Dr. Peter Wooldridge has diverse work experience in various fields. Dr. Peter is currently working as a Soil Carbon Lead at BeZero Carbon, where they aid participants of the Voluntary Carbon Market in pricing and managing risk. Dr. Peter also worked as a Carbon Rating Scientist at BeZero Carbon, specializing in peatland, soil carbon, and geological/earth sciences.
Before joining BeZero Carbon, Dr. Wooldridge was a PhD researcher at the University of Liverpool. Their research focused on assessing how floodplain peat modified ancient delta systems and responded to climate change and sea level rise. This research had implications for various industrial sectors and required expertise in Earth Science, Climate Change, Energy, and Carbon Capture and Storage. During this time, they gained experience running a large research project, working with multidisciplinary teams, and collaborating with industry experts. Dr. Wooldridge also worked as a Teaching Assistant, supervising masters students and delivering undergraduate modules in Geology and Earth Science.
Prior to their PhD, Dr. Wooldridge was a student at the University of Leicester. Dr. Peter also gained experience as a Research Assistant at the University of Liverpool, where they conducted core logging and data collection for the Ravenglass estuary project.
Outside of academia, Dr. Wooldridge worked briefly as a Swim Instructor at Swimtime UK and Altrincham Swimming Club. In these roles, they obtained lifeguard and swim teacher qualifications and delivered swim teaching lessons and life-saving techniques to participants of all ages.
Overall, Dr. Peter Wooldridge has a strong background in research, teaching, and the environmental sector, with a particular focus on soil carbon and climate-related topics.
Dr. Peter Wooldridge obtained their MGeol degree in Geological and Earth Sciences/Geosciences from the University of Leicester, where they pursued their studies from 2013 to 2017. Subsequently, they enrolled in the University of Liverpool, where they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Geological and Earth Sciences/Geosciences from 2017 to 2021.
