Head of Forest Carbon Ratings at BeZero

Rishi Das has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Rishi is currently working as the Head of Forest Carbon Ratings at BeZero Carbon since July 2023. Prior to this, they were a Manager of Technology for Natural Climate Solutions at Verra from October 2021 to July 2023. Rishi also worked as a Senior Research Associate at the University of Colorado Boulder from August 2019 to August 2021. Before that, they have been an independent Climate Change Consultant, working with organizations like the Global Green Growth Institute and U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization, focusing on climate change projects in Southeast Asia from November 2017 to July 2019. Rishi has also served as a Senior Climate & Environment Specialist at Integra Government Services International LLC, where they provided technical expertise on climate change and sustainable landscapes projects from October 2015 to November 2017. Rishi gained experience as a Senior Analyst at Conservation International from November 2012 to April 2015. Rishi's earlier career includes positions such as Jefferson Fellow and Research Assistant at the University of Virginia from August 2006 to August 2012, Environmental Research Consultant at The Nature Conservancy from October 2008 to May 2009, and Research Scientist at People's Science Institute from April 2001 to July 2004. Rishi also worked as a Project Associate at The Trust for Public Land from November 1999 to April 2001, where they focused on land conservation and real estate transactions. Overall, Rishi has a strong background in climate change, forestry, natural resource management, and environmental research.

Rishi Das obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Ecology from the University of California, Berkeley, which they attended from 1995 to 1999. Rishi then pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Environmental Studies at Yale University from 2004 to 2006. Following this, they completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Environmental Science from the University of Virginia, where they studied from 2006 to 2012.
