Laurent Basara

Data Scientist at BforCure

Laurent Basara is a data scientist at BforCure. Laurent previously worked as a research and development engineer at Inria, exploring machine learning approaches to the pattern recognition task of particle tracking at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), based on the dataset of the TrackML challenge.

Before that, they were a post-doctoral researcher/assistant researcher at Agenzia Spaziale Italiana, where they worked on the AMS-02 space telescope project, and was responsible for the MC/BT conversion and e/p discrimination.

Laurent did their PhD at Laboratoire d'Annecy de Physique des Particules (LAPP - CNRS/IN2P3 - USMB), where they studied the flux of (anti-)deuterons, and developed a charge estimator for nuclei using the calorimeter. Laurent also worked on determining the positron ratio, using data from the AMS-02 telescope.

Laurent Basara is an engineer in research and development in the field of energy and environment from Ecole centrale de Nantes. Laurent also has a Master 2 degree in Astroparticules et cosmologie from Pierre and Marie Curie University, as well as a Master SMA in Thermodynamique des Fluides Appliquée et Propulsion from Nantes Université.
