Gemma Mudd has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and companies. Gemma began their career as an Industrial Placement Student at GlaxoSmithKline in 2006. Gemma then worked as an Assistant Chemist at SEPA from 2007 to 2008. Gemma Mudd joined Piramal LifeSciences Limited as a Production Chemist in 2008. Gemma furthered their education and research experience at the University of Edinburgh, where they served as a Research Assistant from 2009 to 2011 and later pursued their PhD, completing it in 2015. Gemma Mudd then joined Bicycle Therapeutics, starting as a Research Scientist in 2015 and progressing through various roles including Senior Scientist, Team Leader - Medicinal Chemistry, Group Leader - Peptide Medicinal Chemistry, and currently as a Director (Medicinal Chemistry) since 2023.

Gemma Mudd pursued their education at the University of York from 2003 to 2007, where they completed their Bachelor's degree in Chemistry. Following that, they attended The University of Edinburgh from 2011 to 2014, where they successfully obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemistry.
