Gustavo Arruda Bezerra

Associate Director - Structural Biology at Bicycle Therapeutics

Gustavo Arruda Bezerra has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of structural biology. Gustavo currently holds the position of Associate Director - Structural Biology at Bicycle Therapeutics. Prior to this, they served as a Group Leader at Bicycle Therapeutics and as a Team Leader for Protein Crystallography at the University of Oxford - Centre for Medicines Discovery.

Gustavo also worked as a Structural Biologist in Metabolic and Rare Diseases at The Structural Genomics Consortium (SGC)-University of Oxford. Gustavo began their career as a Research Fellow at Max F. Perutz Laboratories - Medical University of Vienna, where they were part of the Vienna International PostDoctoral Program (VIPS).

Before that, Gustavo gained experience as a PHD Student at Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz and as a Visiting Researcher at the Structural Genomics Consortium - Toronto. Gustavo obtained their M.Sc. degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Federal University of Ceará, where they also worked as a Master Student. Gustavo began their academic journey as a Bachelor Student in Biological Sciences at the Federal University of Ceará.

Gustavo obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from the Federal University of Ceara from 2001 to 2004. After that, they pursued a Master's Degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, with a focus on Structural Biology, from 2005 to 2007 at the same institution. Finally, from 2008 to 2012, they attended the Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz, where they received their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biochemistry, Biophysics and Molecular Biology, specifically in the field of Structural Biology.
