John Payne

John Payne is an experienced professional in the sports and finance industries, currently serving as Director of Competition at the Big 12 Conference since June 2019. Previously, John held various roles at the same organization, including Associate Director of Competition and Staff Accountant. Prior to that, John worked as Director of Business Operations and Assistant Director of Financial Operations at the Southland Conference from 2016 to 2019. John also gained experience at the Big 12 Conference as a Championships Assistant for a brief period in early 2016. Earlier in John's career, experience included roles as a Banking Officer in Underwriting at Texas Capital Bank and as a Credit Analyst at Texas Brand Bank. John holds an M.B.A. in Sports Business from San Diego State University and a Bachelor's Degree in Finance with Real Estate from Texas Christian University.
