Maria Gabriela Loja's work experience began in 2006 as a Co-Facilitator for the Teen Choice program at La Asociacion Benefica Cultural Father Billini. From 2009 to 2012, they worked as a Case Worker at Goodwill Industries. In 2011, they also served as a Social Work Intern at Elmhurst Hospital. In 2012, they became a Social Work Intern at Bronx Regional High School. In 2013, they joined Primerica as a Division Leader, where they focused on helping families become financially independent through term life insurance. From 2013 to 2015, they worked as a Program Manager at Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC. Maria Gabriela then became an Associate Director at the same organization from 2015 to 2016. From 2016 to 2019, they held the position of Director and Child Safety Officer. Currently, Maria Gabriela Loja is the Vice President of Community Programs and Child Safety at Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC.

Maria Gabriela Loja obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology from Hunter College from the years 2006 to 2010. Subsequently, they pursued a Master's degree in Social Work at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College from 2011 to 2013. Additionally, they hold certifications in Series 6 and 63 from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), although the exact month and year of obtaining these certifications are unknown.
