Hailey Greenleaf

Hailey Greenleaf is a research technician at Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences since February 2023. Previously, Hailey completed an independent senior research project at Maine Maritime Academy from January 2022 to April 2023, focusing on the absorption of toxic PAHs into both biodegradable and conventional plastics, employing analytical chemistry techniques such as gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. During a summer internship in 2022 at the Naval Postgraduate School, Hailey modeled the contributions of microplastics in the Arctic Ocean using the Regional Arctic System Model as part of a Research Experience for Undergraduates program. Earlier experience includes serving as a student mate at Maine Maritime Academy, where responsibilities included watchkeeping and navigation for coastal and offshore sailing. Hailey earned a degree from Maine Maritime Academy in December 2022 and attended Stevens Institute of Technology from 2018 to 2020.
