Jerónimo van Schendel Erice has had a long and varied career in architecture. In 2011, they founded their own architecture firm, Jerónimo van Schendel Arquitectos. In 2013, they worked as an Architect for EAI Arquitectura S.L.P., where they designed and created construction documents for 221 housing units in Alfonso XIII, Madrid. In 2015, they were a Teaching Assistant at Harvard Graduate School of Design, a Group Facilitator for the Learning Environments for Tomorrow Program at Harvard Graduate Schools of Education and Design, a Shelter and Architecture Researcher at World Vision International, and an Architect at Rafael Moneo Arquitectos. In 2016, they were an Office Manager and Project Architect at Abalos+Sentkiewicz Architects. AS+, a Colab Fellow for Bits, Blocks and the Internet of Things at IDEO, and Co-founder and CEO at Bildia, the Nº1 estimating and procurement software for construction. In 2018, they were the Academic Director of the IE Master in Business for Architecture and Design, MBArch.
Jerónimo van Schendel Erice began their education in 1990 at Colegio Gimnasio Moderno in Bogotá, Colombia, where they completed elementary and middle school in the Montessori Educational Model. In 2000, they moved to Madrid and attended Colegio Virgen de Mirasierra, SS.CC., where they completed their high school studies in the Science and Technology Branch. From 2004 to 2010, they attended Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, where they obtained their Bachelor and M.Arch I in Architecture, Design, and Urban Design. In 2008 and 2009, they participated in the Erasmus Exchange Program at Universidade Lusíada de Lisboa, studying Architecture, Urban Design, and Landscape Architecture. In 2014, they enrolled at Harvard University Graduate School of Design, where they obtained their Master of Architecture II in 2016. In 2016, they also attended MIT Sloan School of Management for New Enterprises.
